For the past 20 years the Inrocks Motorola Festival has been promoting the best in somewhat established and up-and-coming musical talent. Favoring bands signed with independent labels in particular, the festival has showcased such groundbreaking artists as the White Stripes, Oasis, Blur, Elliott Smith, New Order, PJ Harvey, Placebo, and the Stone Roses, to name but a select few. This year promises nothing less. The festival will hit cities across the country including Paris, Nantes, Toulouse, Lille, Strasbourg, and for the first time Clermont-Ferrard.
Paris is fortuitously positioned, as every band will at some point have an opportunity to see the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower by night (and of course play a little music). Among this years heaving-hitting lineup don't miss the eclectic, eccentric new-folk phenomenon Devendra Banhart, the seductive Brit pop of Bloc Party, the electro dance forays of the Mercury Prize winning Klaxons, or the poignantly revelatory melodies of Cold War Kids. International French sensations the Teenagers and Justice will be performing on native soil in a long overdue homecoming; likewise, in a symbolic way, for Beirut's Zack Condon who professes to miss Paris whenever he is anywhere else, despite residing permanently in New Mexico.
These and many other sensational acts can be seen at the Boule Noire, the Cigale, the Olympia, and the Zénith.
